From State Rep. Dave Paul, April 2026 …

Friends,

It’s hard to believe that I’ll be filing to run for re-election in a week. Looking ahead to the 2027 session, I’m focused on three main priorities. First, we must better protect college affordability in our state. Over the last two years, the state has cut higher education budgets despite increased revenues from the Workforce Education Investment Act. This is unacceptable. With Sen. T'wina Nobles, I’ve led efforts to create the Higher Education Caucus and will continue to work to reverse these harmful cuts.

Second, we must double our efforts to create living-wage jobs in our state. I’m working to strengthen K12 workforce training programs—and better connect high school students to community college and apprenticeship training programs.

Finally, I’m leading efforts to bring local, county, and regional leaders together to address community problems that affect all corners of our region. I’m collaborating with local leaders, public safety leaders, and the North Sound Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization (ASO) to improve the Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) program in our community. While much of this work is behind the scenes, I believe it’s necessary to ensure providers and community leaders remain focused on finding solutions to problems that persist in our region.

I represent a true swing district, and I’ll need your help to win re-election this year. Just like we have for the past eight years, we’ll run a true grassroots campaign that focuses on knocking on doors and listening to constituents—so that I can advocate for their priorities in Olympia.

As always, it’s an honor to serve as your representative.

Dave
