From U.S. Rep Rick Larsen, June 2026…

Recently, I worked with my colleagues in DC to achieve three bipartisan wins to lower housing costs, protect rural hospitals and create jobs in Northwest Washington. 

Families in Northwest Washington are struggling to afford their skyrocketing rent and don’t know if they will ever be able to buy a home of their own. I voted for the bipartisan 21st Century Road to Housing Act, which provides real solutions to the barriers in the way of constructing more affordable housing. I will keep working to pass legislation that helps renters and first-time home buyers find affordable, quality housing for their families.

Due to rising health care costs, rural hospitals like Island Health in Anacortes are struggling. I worked with Republican Representative Dan Newhouse to introduce bipartisan legislation to help more rural hospitals receive ‘Critical Access Hospital’ designation, which is a cost-saving lifeline. The ‘Critical Access Hospital’ designation will help Island Health and other rural hospitals preserve their current services and continue to provide great care to military and Tribal families.

Finally, my BUILD America 250 Act passed out of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. This bipartisan bill invests $580 billion across the U.S. over five years, and will create jobs for women and men in Northwest Washington to build highways, transit, rail, ferries, culverts and more.

You can’t have a big-league economy with little-league infrastructure, and the investments made by the BUILD America 250 Act will upgrade Northwest Washington’s infrastructure and upgrade our economy.

I will continue to deliver for Northwest Washington, and hope to see you on the campaign trail this summer.
